The updated deal resolved a key tension: OpenAI could now allow Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer its technology. This issue had become pressing after OpenAI signed a massive deal worth up to $50 billion with Amazon. On Tuesday, Amazon announced that AWS's Bedrock service now includes OpenAI's latest models, its code-writing tool Codex, and a new offering for building AI agents powered by OpenAI.
Bedrock is Amazon's platform for building AI applications and selecting models. The new agent service is called Bedrock Managed Agents, and it is tailored specifically for OpenAI's reasoning models. It includes features such as agent steering and security controls.

OpenAI has sought partnerships with AWS and Oracle, while Microsoft has looked to Anthropic. The Redmond-based software giant is also developing a new agent offering powered by Claude.
