Bee Debuts Frontier Wearable and Eclipse Phone Accessory, Expanding Amazon's AI Hardware Lineup

Amazon's personal AI wearable brand, Bee, is introducing its first lineup of new products since the retail giant acquired the company last year. On Thursday, the tech company unveiled two devices: the Bee Frontier, a next-generation wearable that can be worn on the wrist or pinned to clothing, and the Bee Eclipse, a credit-card-sized gadget that magnetically attaches to the back of a smartphone.

The Eclipse positions Bee in more direct competition with AI devices such as the Plaud Note or Pocket, though at a more accessible price point. The Bee Frontier costs $74.99, compared to $159 for the Plaud Note (or $189 for the Note Pro) and $129 for the Pocket AI device. The Bee Frontier will be available in Onyx, Lavender, and Sage, while the $99.99 Bee Eclipse comes in Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush.

Like the original Bee, the core concept behind these new devices is to harness AI to capture notes from everyday conversations, helping users remember important details that were discussed and transform them into actionable to-dos, summaries, and insights. For example, if you talked with friends about making plans, the Bee would recall the date and time you agreed upon and then generate a calendar invite. The device can also be used to take lecture notes in class or to record the care plan discussed with a doctor, among other use cases.

All Bee devices can generate conversation summaries and recaps at no cost, and offer 14 days of memory. Through an $11.99 per month Bee Pro subscription, users gain unlimited conversation summaries along with integrations for Amazon.com, Alexa+, and third-party applications. Pro subscribers also receive suggested to-dos, daily memories, a personal chat assistant, and conversation templates.

To enable all of this, Bee devices rely on a private computing security architecture that does not store raw audio from conversations. Instead, audio is processed in real time and then deleted. Conversation transcripts are encrypted with keys that your device generates and controls, meaning no one else—including Amazon employees—can access those files unless you manually and intentionally share them. Additionally, users can choose to connect the Bee to Alexa, allowing an Echo device to leverage its voice recognition capability, known as Voice ID, to detect when you're speaking. It can then record your conversations to provide Bee's insights. This feature is optional, and Amazon notes that transcripts and summaries can be deleted at any time.

With its new connections to Amazon.com and Alexa, Bee users can make purchases from Amazon or ask Alexa for their Bee insights, summaries, or to-dos hands-free. Bee also integrates with existing productivity software such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook, enabling it to draft emails, schedule meetings, surface action items, and more. Users can also upload photos to Bee or connect it with Apple's HealthKit to incorporate a picture of their overall wellness into the insights provided.

Both the Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse feature just one button for powering the device on and off, along with an indicator light that activates when a conversation is being summarized. The Frontier additionally offers IP67 water resistance, up to seven days of battery life, USB-C charging, and dual microphones with advanced noise filtering.

All Bee devices come with a companion mobile app, which has been newly redesigned, plus a new desktop app. The Bee Frontier is available now on Amazon, with the Eclipse following soon after.
