Anthropic Secures $30 Billion Series G Funding, Valuation Soars to $380 Billion

Anthropic announced on Thursday that it has successfully closed a $30 billion Series G fundraising round. This new investment places the company's valuation at $380 billion, representing a dramatic increase from its previous $183 billion valuation during the Series F round.
Earlier this week, certain details of this financing were reported. The round was spearheaded by Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, GIC, and the investment firm Coatue. A consortium of other notable firms co-led the investment, including D. E. Shaw Ventures, Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, and Abu Dhabi’s MGX. Additional significant backers in the round featured Accel, General Catalyst, Jane Street, and the Qatar Investment Authority.
This substantial capital infusion arrives as the AI startup competes intensely for both market share and public recognition with its rival, OpenAI. Notably, OpenAI has recently disclosed its own pursuit of an additional $100 billion in funding. Securing this amount would elevate OpenAI's valuation to approximately $830 billion.
In a statement, Anthropic’s chief financial officer, Krishna Rao, emphasized the growing reliance on their technology. "Whether it is entrepreneurs, startups, or the world’s largest enterprises, the message from our customers is the same: Claude is increasingly becoming more critical to how businesses work," Rao said. "This fundraising reflects the incredible demand we are seeing from these customers, and we will use this investment to continue building the enterprise-grade products and models they have come to depend on."
