Apple's AI-Powered Siri Update Set to Debut in February

We are on the verge of seeing the initial tangible outcomes from the recently revealed AI collaboration between Apple and Google, as noted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman indicates that Apple intends to unveil a refreshed version of Siri in the latter part of February.
This Siri update, powered by Google’s Gemini AI models, is expected to finally deliver on the commitments Apple outlined back in June 2024. It will reportedly gain the capability to handle tasks by tapping into users’ personal information and content displayed on their screens.
That release will precede an even more significant enhancement Apple plans to introduce in June during its Worldwide Developers Conference, according to Gurman. This forthcoming iteration of Siri is designed to be more interactive and conversational, similar to other chatbots such as ChatGPT, and may operate directly on Google’s cloud infrastructure.
Previous accounts had suggested Apple was facing challenges in realigning its AI approach. Gurman even reported that Apple’s Mike Rockwell told core team members last summer that one of Gurman’s own prior articles was “bulls-t.”
However, with the new partnership with Google and the recent exit of Apple’s AI head John Giannandrea, it appears the company has now charted a clear new course forward.
