Atlassian Launches AI-Powered Visual Tool to Transform Data into Charts and Graphics

Atlassian introduced a suite of new AI-powered tools and agents on Wednesday, designed to transform data into visual elements and functional applications. A key highlight is the launch of its visual tool, Remix, now available in open beta. This feature enables businesses to convert data and information stored within Atlassian's Confluence collaboration platform into various visual formats, such as charts and graphics. Remix intelligently suggests the most appropriate visual style for the given content and generates these assets directly within Confluence, eliminating the need for users to switch to separate applications.

The company also unveiled three new third-party agents that operate inside Confluence using model context protocols (MCPs). One agent integrates with the popular coding platform Lovable, allowing Confluence users to turn product concepts and data into working prototypes. A second agent connects to the app development software Replit, enabling the conversion of technical documentation into starter applications. The third agent collaborates with the AI presentation builder Gamma to produce slides and other presentation materials.

Sanchan Saxena, Atlassian's Senior Vice President of Teamwork Collaboration, emphasized the impact of these features in a blog post. "With Remix and agents in Confluence, a single page becomes the starting point for whatever comes next: a clear story for leaders, a prototype for builders, or a walkthrough for customers, all from the same source of truth," he wrote. "When you remove that friction, teams do more than manage documents; they create the next generation of products and experiences."

These tools represent Atlassian's continued strategy of embedding AI agents directly into the applications employees already use, rather than developing entirely new software platforms. This approach was evident in February when the company integrated AI agents into its project management software, Jira.

This direction aligns with a broader industry trend where companies are focusing on incorporating AI tools directly into existing workflows. While Salesforce pioneered a standalone AI agent management platform called Agentforce in 2024, it has since channeled many of its AI advancements through established products, such as a recent upgrade that transformed Slack's chatbot into a full AI agent.

OpenAI is also embracing this integrated model through its Frontier Alliances initiative, partnering with four major consulting firms. The goal is to have consultants embed OpenAI's technology directly into clients' current tech stacks and workflows, moving beyond simply selling ChatGPT Enterprise subscriptions.

Reflecting on this philosophy, Saxena noted in the blog post, "Technology should fade into the background and let people focus on their best work."
