Chrome Launches AI-Powered Autofill That Pulls Form Data From Your Gmail

Google's Chrome browser is receiving an upgrade that enhances its autofill functionality through AI. On Wednesday, the company announced that Chrome will feature a more sophisticated version of autofill designed to assist users in completing online forms by drawing suggestions from their Gmail. This means Chrome can propose details you might need—such as flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking information, order numbers, addresses, phone numbers, or credit card numbers—by referencing your email.
This update expands Google's Personal Intelligence, which already enables users to link their Google Apps to its AI assistant, Gemini, so it can retrieve specific details and use them to answer complex questions. While it may appear minor, the change could make Chrome more user-friendly, potentially giving people another reason to stick with Google's browser and remain within its AI ecosystem.
It brings to mind one of Apple's most well-received features: the ability to automatically detect verification codes sent via text and display them above the keyboard, letting users enter them with a single tap.
As with other Personal Intelligence features, users can choose whether to activate enhanced autofill through their Chrome settings. Google notes that sensitive data is encrypted. The feature is being rolled out to U.S. users on desktop, as well as in the iOS and Android apps for Gemini in Chrome.
