Google Unveils Generative AI Features for Enterprise Mapping and Geospatial Apps

Google has introduced new generative AI capabilities for its mapping and geospatial applications, specifically tailored for enterprise clients. The features, revealed this week at Cloud Next in Las Vegas, enhance Google’s mapping platform with advanced visual and data analytics tools.

One key addition, Maps Imagery Grounding, enables enterprise users to generate realistic scenes within Google Street View. By entering a prompt into the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, they can visualize projects such as movie sets or construction plans—provided the appropriate settings are activated in Google Maps Imagery. According to the company, this allows users to “storyboard your creative vision with an accurate image in seconds,” with the option to animate the scene using Veo.

Google is also broadening how satellite imagery in Google Earth can be analyzed. A new tool named Aerial and Satellite Insights lets users examine imagery stored in Google Cloud’s BigQuery, the company’s cloud data warehouse and analytics service. Google states that this feature reduces what would typically take “weeks of work” down to just minutes.

Additionally, Google is launching two new Earth AI Imagery models, AI systems built to support geospatial analysis. These models have been trained to recognize specific objects in imagery, such as bridges, roads, and power lines. Previously, businesses had to develop and train their own AI systems for this purpose—a process that could take months. With these new models, “businesses no longer need to spend months training and building AI from scratch when developing their own products.”

These updates reinforce Google’s ongoing expansion into enterprise geospatial AI. The company’s Earth AI platform is already utilized by partners like Airbus and Boston Children’s Hospital for uses ranging from environmental monitoring to disaster response. As noted in the announcement, “These AI updates unlock entirely new possibilities for businesses, data analysts, and urban planners.”
