Google Launches AI-Powered "CC" Assistant for Daily Productivity Briefs via Email

In the realm of productivity, businesses are continually exploring AI assistants with the goal of saving users time, thereby encouraging greater adoption of these tools. Google has now introduced an experimental email assistant named CC through its Google Labs initiative.

Powered by Gemini, CC can integrate with your Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar to deliver a daily summary via email. This "Your Day Ahead" message highlights your tasks, provides a calendar overview, and shares important updates from your connected accounts. Users can interact with CC at any time by replying to its emails or sending direct requests, such as adding to-do items, customizing its behavior, storing notes, or searching for information.

Currently, CC is accessible to AI Pro and Ultra users aged 18 and above in the U.S. and Canada. Google has clarified that the assistant is only available for personal Google accounts at this stage and not for Workspace accounts.

Several other AI-driven email assistants and daily briefs exist in the market. For instance, Sequoia-backed Mindy, which initially launched as an email assistant, now focuses on the creator and marketing sectors. Other tools like meeting notetakers Read AI and Fireflies also provide daily summaries, though they may not incorporate context from email and Drive. Additionally, Huxe, an audio app developed by former creators of Google NotebookLM, generates a daily podcast-style brief using data from your email, calendar, and news preferences.
