In a major achievement for Google, CEO Sundar Pichai took to X to announce that the Gemini app has become one of the company’s fastest-growing products, recently crossing the 1 billion monthly active users mark. Pichai also highlighted that this makes Gemini the 14th Google product to reach that milestone.

With this impressive growth, Gemini is now on par with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which reached 1 billion monthly active users back in June. Google has been steadily weaving Gemini into its ecosystem, spanning Search, Workspace, Android, and its dedicated app. Notably, Google’s AI Mode in Search has seen strong adoption, boasting over 1 billion monthly active users globally. However, today’s figure specifically refers to the Gemini app and doesn’t include AI users from other channels.

The company has also been rolling out new models and features, including Gemini 3.5 Flash, which Google describes as designed to enhance coding and autonomous AI-agent tasks. Google shared some insights into how people are engaging with the chatbot, revealing that 63% of Gemini users interact with the assistant directly through its voice feature. Additionally, Gemini now generates more than 150 million images daily, according to the company.

Gemini’s reach extends beyond Google’s own products, as the company reports over 100 million active users on iOS. This milestone arrives right after its Q2 2026 earnings call, where the company celebrated surpassing 950 million monthly users, with daily active users tripling over the past year. The announcement also comes ahead of the Made by Google event, where more Gemini-powered features are expected to launch across Pixel devices.
