WordPress Launches Claude Connector for Secure Data Sharing with AI Chatbots

On Thursday, WordPress introduced a new Claude connector that allows site owners to provide back-end data access to Anthropic’s chatbot system. Users retain full control over which specific data is shared and can revoke access at any time.
Importantly, Claude receives read-only permissions, ensuring it cannot make any changes within a user’s content management system. However, last year WordPress indicated that it plans to eventually offer “write” access through the MCP integration, which would likely enable users to perform editorial tasks directly from a connected chatbot of their choice.
Once Claude is connected to an account, users can ask the chatbot a wide range of questions about the site data it can access—from summarizing monthly web traffic to analyzing which posts have low user engagement. WordPress has also supplied a set of template prompts, such as “Show me pending comments on my blog,” “Which of my sites gets the most traffic,” and “Show me which posts are generating the most discussion.”
Additional functions include comment management—for example, viewing pending comments—and plugin management, such as checking which plugins are installed on a primary site.
