NMDC Energy Showcases Latest AI-Powered Innovations at ADIPEC 2024

As a prominent partner at the 40th annual Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC), NMDC Energy is spotlighting its cutting-edge technologies and pioneering advancements in the energy sector. The event, running from November 4-7 in Abu Dhabi, provides a global platform for the energy industry to explore transformational technologies and sustainable solutions. This year’s theme, "Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy," emphasizes the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation in shaping the future of energy.

For NMDC Energy, 2024 has been a landmark year. Following a successful IPO and listing on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), the company has shown impressive financial results and is poised for expansion. Its Connected Workforce solution, on display at its pavilion, features wearable devices that monitor worker movements and alert teams to potential hazards. By tracking inactivity or unusual movement patterns, such as falls, these devices provide real-time insights that help keep workplaces secure.

Another AI innovation showcased is NMDC's Blind Spot Detector, which enhances visibility around heavy machinery to prevent accidents. Alongside this, the Site Safety Analyzer uses AI-enabled cameras in high-risk environments, delivering real-time safety data to a centralized dashboard for enhanced monitoring.

Visitors will also experience the capabilities of augmented reality (AR) in project planning and risk management, where laser-scanned data creates virtual environments that simulate real-world conditions. Digital twin technology, which generates digital replicas of physical assets like pipelines and platforms, allows teams to optimize performance and monitor systems closely.

Expanding Infrastructure: The Ras Al Khair Yard

In early 2025, NMDC Energy is set to launch the Ras Al Khair yard in Saudi Arabia. This 400,000-square-meter, state-of-the-art facility is designed to support fabrication, maintenance, and rigging, playing a critical role in Saudi Arabia's economic diversification efforts. With automated workshops and advanced marine infrastructure, the Ras Al Khair yard will boost NMDC's ability to deliver on large-scale projects across the region.

Additionally, NMDC Energy has invested AED 200 million in modernizing its Mussafah yard, enhancing efficiency while reducing its environmental impact. The ICAD 4 expansion, meanwhile, will upgrade coating and piping facilities, further strengthening NMDC’s infrastructure to meet the demands of the evolving energy sector.

Showcasing a Robust Fleet for a Sustainable Future

ADIPEC attendees can also explore NMDC Energy's extensive fleet, which includes newly commissioned vessels designed to support various marine operations. A highlight is the Heavy Lift Vessel, engineered for installing offshore wind farms, underscoring NMDC’s commitment to advancing renewable energy projects and supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources.

An Impressive Project Portfolio

Among NMDC Energy’s notable projects is the Hail & Ghasha development, which involves the construction of four drilling centers, a processing plant on artificial islands, and over 300 km of subsea pipelines. The company is also expanding its footprint in renewable energy, particularly wind power, by offering expertise in the construction and maintenance of wind energy facilities.
