Nous Research, the company behind the open-source Hermes agent, has secured a $90 million Series B funding round at a $1 valuation. The round was led by Robot Ventures, with additional backing from Nvidia, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Samsung, and 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. serves as a partner. This latest infusion of capital pushes the three-year-old startup's total funding to $158 million.
The open-source Hermes agent has proven remarkably popular among developers and individual users alike, having been cloned over 24 million times and accounting for roughly 2.5% of global AI token usage, based on the startup's own estimates.
With this new funding, Nous Research plans to expand into the enterprise market through "Hermes for Businesses," a product that will let companies deploy customized AI agents capable of managing multi-step workflows while maintaining data privacy and security.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Nous was generating approximately $36 million in annualized revenue by mid-September 2026 and anticipates surpassing $100 million before the close of 2026.
