OpenAI Launches "Frontier Alliance" with Major Consulting Firms to Boost Enterprise AI Adoption

OpenAI is strengthening its collaborations with four leading consulting firms as part of a push to expand its enterprise operations in 2026. On Monday, the AI company introduced the “Frontier Alliance,” indicating a fresh willingness to explore varied strategies for encouraging meaningful enterprise adoption of its technology.
This alliance establishes multi-year agreements between OpenAI and the consulting powerhouses Boston Consulting Group (BCG), McKinsey, Accenture, and Capgemini to market its enterprise offerings. OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team will collaborate directly with these partners to integrate enterprise-focused solutions, such as the recently launched OpenAI Frontier platform, into client technology systems.
The OpenAI Frontier platform, released in early February, is a no-code open software designed to let users build, deploy, and manage AI agents utilizing both OpenAI’s own models and external ones. In its announcement, OpenAI emphasized that consultants are ideally positioned to guide enterprise adoption. Christoph Schweizer, CEO of BCG, echoed this in a statement, noting, “AI alone does not drive transformation. It must be linked to strategy, built into redesigned processes, and adopted at scale with aligned incentives and culture to deliver sustained outcomes.” He added, “Our expanded partnership combines OpenAI’s Frontier platform with BCG’s deep industry, functional, and tech expertise and BCG X’s build-and-scale capabilities to drive measurable impact with safeguards from day one.”
Enterprise uptake of AI has progressed slowly, as many organizations grapple with demonstrating a clear return on investment from their AI initiatives. OpenAI’s alliance approach moves beyond simply adding AI to existing workflows; instead, it focuses on having consultants advise companies on strategically reshaping their operations to incorporate OpenAI’s tools effectively.
It is notable that OpenAI’s competitor, Anthropic, has also secured agreements with major consultants like Deloitte and Accenture in recent months. The enterprise sector remains a key priority for OpenAI in 2026, as highlighted by company CFO Sarah Friar in a January blog post. Thus far in 2024, OpenAI has also secured significant enterprise AI deals with Snowflake and ServiceNow, and appointed Barret Zoph to lead its enterprise sales efforts in January.
