OpenAI Replaces Chief Revenue Officer After 9 Months, Taps Wiz President Dali Rajic as New Sales Chief Amid Executive Shake-Up

OpenAI has announced a leadership change in its revenue division, with chief revenue officer Denise Dresser stepping down after only nine months in the role. Taking over the top sales position is Dali Rajic, who previously served as president and chief operating officer at Wiz. This shift is part of a wider reorganization at the company over the past month, which has also seen the exits of COO Brad Lightcap and Fidji Simo, the CEO of AGI deployment and the firm's second-in-command.
Following Simo's departure, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has stepped into a more prominent management role. He revealed Rajic's appointment today through a blog post. Notably, Rajic's former employer, Wiz, was acquired by Google earlier this year for $32 billion, marking the tech giant's largest acquisition to date. In his post, Brockman praised Dresser's efforts, stating, "Denise has led our revenue organization through a formative period for the business and has worked tirelessly to get the team to where it is today." He added, "The way we're deploying this technology is changing rapidly, and Dali will turn what we've learned into repeatable execution as we build out the full system to make AI broadly useful for people and businesses."
OpenAI reports that its products now serve over one billion weekly active users and two million businesses. Despite this impressive growth and the strength of its AI models, executives have hinted both privately and publicly that the company has not fully met its revenue targets. The organization has also filed confidentially with the SEC in preparation for a potential IPO, though the timeline for that remains uncertain. It's common for private companies to strengthen their executive teams ahead of a public market debut.
This week, OpenAI facilitated a tender offer that allowed employees to sell $7 billion worth of shares, giving them a chance to cash in on their equity compensation—a move that could signal a delay in the public offering. Bloomberg News, in its coverage of the leadership changes, referenced an OpenAI blog post that emphasized the need for a "relentless focus" on "measurable business impact," though those remarks appear to have been removed from the final published version. Earlier this year, CEO Sam Altman also spoke about prioritizing enterprise deployment and scaling back on technology projects and experiments that were seen as distractions from that core objective.
