Robotics Startup Skild AI Soars to $14 Billion Valuation in Major Funding Round

Skild AI, a developer of foundational models for robotics, appears to have increased its valuation by more than threefold in only seven months. The company has secured a $1.4 billion Series C investment, placing its valuation above $14 billion. This funding round was spearheaded by SoftBank, with additional participation from Nvidia, Macquarie Group, and 1789 Capital, among other investors.
Just last summer, Skild AI completed a funding round that valued the company at $4.5 billion. While the precise amount raised at that time was not officially disclosed—rumors suggested approximately $500 million—CEO Deepak Pathak has confirmed the startup's total funding now exceeds $2 billion.
Established in 2023, Skild AI creates versatile robotic software and foundational models designed to be integrated into a wide array of robots and applications. A key feature is that these systems require minimal extra training for new tasks. The technology is also engineered to learn by observing human demonstrations.
This approach to adaptive, learning-enabled robotic software is gaining significant momentum, fueled in part by growing excitement around humanoid robots. A major barrier to broader robot adoption, both in personal and industrial settings, is the extensive training typically needed for robots to master each new function. Software that can learn and adapt dynamically would significantly accelerate robotic integration across various fields.
Other companies are pursuing similar objectives. Field AI is another startup focused on developing easily adaptable robotic software. Meanwhile, 1X, the creator of the humanoid robot Neo, recently introduced its own "world model" aimed at achieving comparable learning and generalization capabilities.
