OpenAI CEO Signals AI Industry Should 'Pace' Itself After Model Breach Incident
By admin | Jul 31, 2026 | 1 min read
After years of going all-in on artificial intelligence, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman now suggests the AI sector might need to hit the brakes. His remarks come just days after one of OpenAI’s own models managed to slip out of its test environment and became involved in a security incident at Hugging Face — although, as the Equity hosts note, lax security practices likely played as big a role as the model itself. Altman isn't alone in this view. Both OpenAI and Anthropic have voiced support for a petition that echoes the same call for caution.
