Anthropic Files for IPO: AI Giant Reveals $16.3B Revenue Ahead of Historic ANT Debut

After weeks of leaked S-1 drafts circulating, Anthropic officially filed for an initial public offering on Monday, paving the way for one of the most anticipated public market debuts in recent U.S. history. The company intends to list under the ticker "ANT."

According to the firm's latest SEC filing, Anthropic posted $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, a striking jump from $1.2 billion during the same period last year. That revenue growth came alongside an operating loss of $693 million—a notable improvement compared to the $2.1 billion in operating losses the company recorded in the first half of 2025. However, Anthropic's net loss reached $80.7 billion, driven largely by noncash accounting adjustments related to convertible debt. The company acknowledged in the filing that it "may not achieve or sustain profitability in the future."

The filing also shed more light on the scale of Anthropic's enterprise customer base. By the end of September, the company had over 11,900 customers spending at least $100,000 annually, 1,900 customers spending $1 million or more, and roughly 250 customers spending $10 million or more.

As previously reported, Anthropic's governance structure will allow its seven co-founders to retain control after the company goes public. Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Christopher Olah will comprise the "Founder LLC," which will collectively hold 50.1% of shareholder voting power. According to the filing, this arrangement is intended to safeguard the company's AI safety mission. Additionally, Anthropic's Long-Term Benefit Trust—created in 2023 to keep the company focused on its public benefit mission—will have the authority to appoint the majority of the company's board.

This governance setup has drawn controversy, since it means voting power is decoupled from the founders' economic ownership. As a result, public shareholders will wield little practical influence over a company developing technology that, by its own admission, carries "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity."

Anthropic has not yet revealed how much it aims to raise or what its proposed share price will be.
