Anthropic Expands AI Compute Deals with Google and Broadcom to Power Claude Models

On Monday, AI research lab Anthropic revealed it has entered into a new agreement with Google and Broadcom to significantly boost the processing and computational power behind its Claude AI models. This restructuring of its compute arrangements arrives amid surging demand for its artificial intelligence offerings.

The updated agreements will expand Anthropic's utilization of Google Cloud's tensor processing units (TPUs), which are the company's specialized AI chips. This move represents a further development of the partnership established in October 2025, which initially secured over a gigawatt of compute capacity.

According to a company blog post, this new computational power is scheduled to become operational in 2027. While Anthropic did not disclose specific figures for the expansion, a recent Broadcom filing with the SEC indicates the deal encompasses 3.5 gigawatts of compute.

The majority of this infrastructure will be located within the United States, forming part of Anthropic's broader $50 billion pledge to invest in U.S. compute infrastructure.

Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic, commented on the partnership in a press release, stating, "This groundbreaking partnership with Google and Broadcom is a continuation of our disciplined approach to scaling infrastructure: we are building the capacity necessary to serve the exponential growth we have seen in our customer base while also enabling Claude to define the frontier of AI development." He added, "We are making our most significant compute commitment to date to keep pace with our unprecedented growth."

Demand for Claude models has skyrocketed in recent months, driven significantly by enterprise clients. This growth persists even after the U.S. Defense Department categorized Anthropic as a supply chain risk.

In a related financial development, Anthropic recently concluded a $30 billion Series G funding round, which valued the company at $380 billion. The company also announced its run rate revenue has now reached $30 billion, a dramatic increase from the $9 billion recorded at the close of 2025. Furthermore, Anthropic now counts more than 1,000 business customers who each spend over $1 million on an annualized basis.
