DoorDash Adds AI Tools to Speed Merchant Onboarding, Enhance Food Photos, and Auto-Generate Websites

DoorDash has introduced a fresh set of AI-driven features aimed at helping merchants streamline their operations and enhance their online presence. These new tools, launched on Monday, allow businesses to accelerate the onboarding process, improve the visual appeal of their food photos, and create websites using data from their existing app listings.

The onboarding tool functions much like a similar feature Amazon rolled out in 2024. Merchants can simply direct the tool to their own website, and it will automatically pull in relevant details such as photos, operating hours, and menu items to generate a listing on the DoorDash app. Before going live, merchants have the opportunity to review and adjust any of this information.

In addition, DoorDash has upgraded its video library. Merchants can now tag dishes within videos, enabling customers to click and order those items directly. The library also provides performance metrics, including total views, sales generated from videos, and revenue from new customers.

For restaurants looking to polish their visuals, several photo-editing tools are now available. AI Retouch can replace backgrounds, sharpen images, and optimize lighting without altering the food itself. AI Replate, on the other hand, adjusts lighting and color to make dishes appear professionally plated. Merchants can also provide a reference image to apply a specific style to an existing photo.

“At DoorDash, we’re constantly building tools to help merchants succeed, from their very first day on the platform, to every order after. These new tools reflect our belief that the right technology should remove friction, not add it, so merchants can focus on what they do best: making great food and delivering incredible customer experiences,” Brian Tolkin, head of merchant product at DoorDash, said in a statement.

The company is also expanding its commerce platform with additional features. One such feature allows restaurant owners to quickly build a website using content already on DoorDash, like menu items and photos. During a test of this capability, merchants saw average order conversion rates of nearly 10%. Furthermore, a new marketing campaign builder has been introduced, enabling merchants to automate content creation, email outreach, and scheduling.
