General Intuition in Talks to Raise $300M at $2B Valuation for AI Agent Foundation Model

This funding round arrives eight months after General Intuition separated from Medal, a platform focused on uploading and sharing video game clips, backed by a $134 million seed investment. According to sources, the new capital pushes the startup’s valuation to just over $2 billion. Pim de Witte, who co-founded Medal, leads General Intuition alongside co-founders Eloi Alonso, Adam Jelley, and Vincent Micheli—researchers specializing in world modeling and simulation.
The startup trains embodied AI and world models using Medal’s extensive dataset, which captures 2 billion videos annually from 10 million monthly active users. Its core proposition is that this dataset, derived from interactive, first-person gameplay, provides an ideal foundation for teaching machines deep spatial-temporal reasoning. This enables AI to perceive, anticipate, and interact in real-time within simulated environments. The dataset has reportedly drawn interest from OpenAI, which previously attempted to acquire Medal, and sources indicate that other major AI labs have also approached the company.
The world model sector, where General Intuition operates, is becoming increasingly competitive. Startups such as Runway, Decart, and World Labs have recently unveiled their own world models, while Google’s Genie 3 has integrated Google Maps data to enhance real-world simulation capabilities. Many of these companies view gaming and robotics training as near-term commercial applications. However, General Intuition distinguishes itself by building world models specifically to train agents, rather than selling the models themselves. The agents become the product, and the startup’s unique dataset provides a viable path forward.
General Intuition plans to use the new funds to expand its compute capacity, with the goal of releasing a new product by late summer or early fall, according to a source familiar with the situation.
