Gemini's Personal Intelligence Feature Launches in India for Personalized AI Assistance

Google introduced its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature to the Indian market on Tuesday. This tool allows users to link their Google accounts—including Gmail and Google Photos—and then ask Gemini questions to receive tailored responses. Once connected, someone could inquire, “What are my travel plans for Jaipur,” and Gemini would pull relevant details from emails or photo libraries. It can also reference recently watched YouTube videos to generate suggestions.
Google noted that Gemini will cite the sources of its answers, enabling users to check the information if desired. Initially, the Personal Intelligence feature will only be accessible to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in India. The company plans to extend availability to free users within the coming weeks. This launch marks Gemini’s entry into another major global market.
The Personal Intelligence feature first entered beta testing in the United States in January, rolling out to certain paid tiers. By March, it was available to all U.S. users, and it has also been launched in Japan. Google has acknowledged that Gemini may not always interpret personal data accurately and could draw links between unrelated subjects.
In a blog post, the company explained, “Gemini may also struggle with timing or nuance, particularly regarding relationship changes, like divorces, or your various interests. For instance, seeing hundreds of photos of you at a golf course might lead it to assume you love golf. But it misses the nuance: you don’t love golf, but you love your son, and that’s why you’re there. If Gemini gets this wrong, you can just tell it (‘I don’t like golf’).”
Google is rapidly deploying advanced AI capabilities in India, one of its largest markets. In March, Gemini was integrated into Chrome for users in the country. Just last week, the company also activated an AI-driven restaurant booking flow in India through partnerships with platforms such as Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner.
