Pinterest Launches AI-Powered Beauty Guides That Turn Saved Pins Into Salon-Ready Looks

Pinterest unveiled a new AI-powered tool on Tuesday designed to transform saved beauty inspiration into practical, salon-ready plans. The feature, called "Beauty Guides," focuses on beauty-related Pins such as hair and nail ideas, turning them into actionable guidance users can bring with them to appointments. Powered by Pinterest Intelligence—the company's visual intelligence and generative AI technology—the tool translates Pins into the professional terminology used by stylists and nail artists, terms that everyday users might not be familiar with, such as "balayage," "root melt," or "almond nails."
This feature represents a modest yet practical way of weaving AI into users' daily routines, since it builds on something people already do: bringing a reference photo to the salon. While that habit is helpful on its own, having the correct terminology on hand during conversations about which elements of a look to keep or adjust adds another layer of usefulness. Beyond vocabulary, the guides also provide planning information, including how long each stage of the process might take and what it could cost. (Balayage, for instance, can run into the hundreds of dollars—details you'd probably want to know in advance.)

Users will find the action guides by tapping the "Get the Guide" button inside the app. From there, the guides lay out exactly what to request in order to recreate a given look, along with the time required, a price range, and maintenance needs—such as how frequently trims, toning, or touch-ups will be necessary. At launch, the feature supports Pins covering hairstyle, hair color, nail shape, and nail finish.
