Spotify Expands AI DJ Feature with French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese Support

Spotify announced on Thursday that its interactive AI DJ feature now works in four additional languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Previously, the tool—which lets users request songs and receive AI-generated spoken commentary—was only available in English and Spanish. Each language has its own AI DJ with a distinct name and personality: Maia, Ben, Alex, and Dani.
Beyond expanding language support, the company is also rolling out the feature in Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland. The AI DJ is now accessible in more than 75 countries.
The original version of Spotify’s AI DJ simply offered commentary on songs while playing tracks users were likely to enjoy. However, over the past few years, the company has worked to make the feature more interactive. In May 2025, the streaming service updated it so users can chat with the AI DJ and request changes to the mood or genre. The company also added the ability to prompt the AI DJ to play specific tracks, similar to how ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini function.
Spotify has been steadily integrating more AI features into its app, including the ability to create custom playlists of songs or podcasts simply by describing what you want to listen to.
