As last week came to a close, the U.S. government compelled Anthropic to withdraw its two most recent models—Fable 5 and Mythos 5—citing national security concerns. This action followed claims by Amazon researchers that they had discovered a method to circumvent Fable 5’s safety guardrails. In response, cybersecurity experts have signed an open letter denouncing the move as dangerous. Anthropic itself has pointed out that similar jailbreaks exist in other models.
